How to De-Stress

One of the things I enjoy most about my work is that it allows me to interact with a wide variety of people. Granted, that wide variety of people is mainly here, in New Jersey, typically employed in some pursuit related to medicine. Either way, I work with, and meet a lot of wonderful folks daily.

Every once in a while, someone blows me out of the water. Unfortunately, it tends not to be their sunny disposition, or their encyclopedic knowledge of baseball trivia. More often that not it is because the person has no social skills.

I'm not talking about an angry, bitter, person who is miserable at their job, or a person who is simply having a bad day. I am talking about individuals who make inappropriate comments, tell you that they are better than you, or insult your personality, looks, or work ethic. Worse, perhaps they feel it necessary to tell you how they have oodles of money. Meanwhile, you are trying to figure out how to buy lunch for four bucks!

Interactions with these unique individuals often lead me to one of my favorite forms of therapy: hanging out with my cat. At the end of a long day it is great to spend some time with a furry feline companion, who doesn't care how you look or what your W-2 reads!
